# Debrief 42 ## Comparison ### What are the main things each platform offers? #### Backstage - Catalog table includes numerous filters and API links - Supports the creation of templates. - Addying catalogs to favorites #### Cortex - Icons for types of entity - Inner navigation image.png - Displays health status and incidents for entities. - More advance tool on first touch. - Already pre-defined sections of product in catalog - Clean UI/UX #### Port - Rearrange columns by drag and drop - Right action panel is usefull - Icons of product are good displayed - Properties panel is advanced - Provides a lot of information, filtering options are a bit hidden - There is a possibility to integrate it with 3-rd party appcliations like github / jira - Possibility to add automations ### What features stand out as particularly useful or polished? #### Backstage - “Starred” (favorites) functionality. - Configure other templates than basic. #### Cortex - Health and incident tracking. - Pre defined catalogs for products #### Port - Widget-based layout is a strong feature. - Catalog item overview is visually appealing. - Catalog items are customizable, especially feature with addying properties. ### Are there any unique or innovative ideas in these platforms? - **Backstage**: Creating own templates. - **Cortex**: Health and incident tracking. - **Port**: Customization of cataliog items. ### Based on this research, what 3–5 features should Redocly absolutely include in its catalog for customers like us? 1. **Filtering** - Make catalog filters more advanced to follow the markert features. 2. **Starred** - Addying favorites and tracking them might be usefull. 3. **Table View** - All competitors display they catalog data in tables, our view is presenting product in a block, with is good for small amount of products, but when we have a lot of them seems like its not very good designed. 4. **Monitoring** - Some of the products on market have in their catalogs monitoring what is happening with product, like health check, uptime, downtime, and links to logs in prefferable (maybe configured) tool. 1. **Enhanced Catalog Navigation** - Make catalog item navigation more intuitive and user-friendly, similar to Cortex.
